Dangote Urges Women to Leverage Enablers to Thrive
The President and Chief Executive of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has called on women across Nigeria to take advantage of available opportunities, education, technology, mentorship, and strategic partnerships to break barriers and achieve sustainable growth.

Dangote made this call while delivering the keynote address at the maiden summit and grand opening ceremony of Elevating Informative Women and Ambassadors (EIWA) held at the Cultural Centre, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Speaking on the theme, "Breaking Barriers: Equipping Women to Elevate and Thrive,"  Mrs. Yetunde Ogunnowo,  who  represented  the  Chief Group, Branding and Communication Officer, Mr. Anthony Chiejina stressed that women remain indispensable drivers of national development and economic prosperity, noting that empowering women is not merely a social responsibility but a strategic investment in the future.

Dangote urged women to leverage various enablers such as quality education, digital innovation, entrepreneurship, networking, and financial inclusion to unlock their full potential and create lasting impact in their communities.

"Today, we must shift our narrative from Survival to thriving and thriving requires three critical enablers :  Access to opportunity, Capacity Building and Skills Development as well as confidence and voice.
Access to Opportunity; Women must have equal access to capital, markets, education, and leadership platforms. At Dangote Industries Limited, through initiatives under the Aliko Dangote Foundation, we continue to support programs that expand access to education, economic empowerment, and opportunity for women and underserved communities.
Because when you equip a woman with knowledge and resources, you are not just changing one life—you are transforming entire communities.
On the Capacity Building and Skills Development, Economic headwinds demand adaptability. The future belongs to women who are : Digitally empowered, financially literate and professionally agile
This is why organizational interventions—such as training, mentorship, and leadership development initiatives—are no longer optional; they are essential.

Within our ecosystem, we are actively promoting women empowerment programs, mentorship platforms, and inclusive workforce practices to ensure that women do not just participate in the economy—but shape it.
For the women’s Confidence and Voice, Perhaps the most invisible barrier is not structural—it is psychological. Too many capable women still undervalue their contributions; Hesitate to take leadership roles; Wait for permission to lead, let me say this clearly, the economy will not hand you space, you must claim it, Ogunowo said".

He emphasized that societies flourish when women are given equal opportunities to lead, innovate, and contribute meaningfully to nation-building, adding that the private sector and government must continue to create policies and programmes that support female advancement.

Earlier, the Convener and President of Elevating lnformative Women and Ambassadors ( ElWA ), Mrs. Folake Ade-Adeniji (JP), described the summit as a platform to unite, inspire, and empower women to contribute meaningfully to national development.

She urged women to support one another and create opportunities for future generations.

The summit brought together government officials,  captains of industry, civil society organisations, and women advocates from across the country, all united in the pursuit of promoting gender equality and inclusive development.

Founded on November 14, 2025, Elevating Informative Women and Ambassadors (EIWA) is a non-governmental organisation committed to uniting and empowering women through advocacy, leadership development, education, and community engagement.

Participants at the event described the summit as a significant step toward inspiring women and young girls to rise above societal limitations and embrace opportunities that will enable them to thrive in every sphere of life.
