OGEPA SEALS FILLING STATION, SHOPS OVER ENVIRONMENTAL INFRACTIONS
The Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA), has sealed a filling station and some shops over environmental infractions.

This was disclosed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA) Hon. Farouk Akintunde, who doubles as the chairman, Ogun State Task Force on Environmental Compliance and Enforcement, during an interactive session with Journalists in Abeokuta.

Akintunde said a petition was received from the leadership of Magboro Community Development Committee (CDC), in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, stating that the filling station and other business outlets along the Magboro road were not cooperating with the community to desilt their drainage channels.

The OGEPA Boss, called on business and property owners in the state to take ownership of drainage channels in front of their properties, desilt and clear them to prevent flooding, emphasizing that Thursday of the week as been set aside in Ogun State for markets and business outlets to observe sanitation, which he said must be strictly adhere to.

Meanwhile, the enforcement team, led by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Environment, Hon. Poviwhede Tolu, also removed shanties along the drainage channels, setback of drainage channels, walkways and under the Magboro bridge.

In their separate reactions, the Treasurer of Magboro Area CDC, and a community member, Mr. Mojeed Makonjuola and Mr. Olawale Ayeni, respectively appreciated the State Government for responding to their petition.
