ENCOMIUMS AS OGUN EXPORT PROMOTION COMMITTEE HONOURS RETIRING PS AIKULOLA
It was an overflow of superlatives from stakeholders as the Ogun State Committee on Export Promotion (SCEP) held a special Retirement/Pen Down Ceremony in honour of its Chairman, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Olu. Ola. Aikulola who will be retiring statutorily from the State Civil Service on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.
Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Adebola Sofela, who led the tributes at the event held at the Ministry’s Conference Room, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta,described Aikulola as an exceptional, tested and reliable civil servant he had worked with in his entire life.
Sofela commended the Permanent Secretary for being loyal, hardworking and impactful adding that his virtues should be emulated by Officers.
“ He has done a lot in terms of positioning Ogun State and diversifying the economy and revenue base, encouraging agribusiness and export. For me it has been a privilege working with him. He has been very supportive,” Sofela extolled.
Also speaking, State Co-ordinator, Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Madam Olajumoke Abolaji said the retiring Permanent Secretary’s outstanding leadership made the SCEP a model of collaboration between the public and private sectors. She added that his outstanding leadership also drove initiatives that supported exporters noting that the celebrant’s vision and passion has left footprints that would continue to guide the Committee in the future.
“ Through his commitment, the Committee has witnessed steady progress in building export readiness among MSMEs, promoting value chain development and strengthening our State’s position within Nigeria’s export diversification agenda”, Abolaji said.
In her contribution, State Coordinator, Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC), Mrs. Folasade Onadipe lauded Aikulola for his unwavering leadership and inclusive approach to issues which made members of the Export Committee comfortable to air their views and contribute to the non-oil export goals of the State.
In his tribute, Immediate-Past President, Abeokuta Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ABEOCCIMA), Otunba Babs Adesanya described the Permanent Secretary as a “humble, cool, calm and collected administrator who gets problems solved and leaves an amazing impression on people”.
Speaking, Council Member, Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) Youth Entrepreneurs, Mr. Oluwadamilare Oladotun commended the exemplary leadership style of Permanent Secretary Aikulola adding that his style helped in relating with youth entrepreneurs without any complex issues.
Responding, Dr. Aikulola lauded the Commissioner, NEPC State Coordinator with all SCEP members and all the stakeholders for honouring him.
He charged the Committee to actualise the goal of producing an e-book on the export opportunities in the State while admonishing workers in the Ministry to remain loyal, supportive and committed in the discharge of their duties.
