OBAFEMI OWODE ZONAL CDC SET TO HOLD LEADERSHIP TRAINING FOR CDA OFFICERS
Obafemi Owode Zonal Community Development Committee (ZCDC) has concluded plans to hold a one-day human capacity development seminar for officers of Community Development Associations (CDAs) in each Area Community Development Committee (ACDC) across the zone.
This was disclosed by the Zonal Community Development Committee (CDC) Chairman, Obafemi Owode, Engr. Adegboyega Adeleke, at a seminar organized for principal officers of ACDCs in the Zone held at Owode City Hall, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area.
Engr. Adeleke said the seminar is aimed at empowering community leaders to lead well and drive greater efficiency in the administration of their respective Area CDCs.
He said the seminar for ACDC officers was the first of its kind and a noble initiative of the Adeleke-led administration, essentially to imbue community leaders with greater knowledge and sharpen their leadership skills to perform much better in their respective communities.
"You will face distractions from a few misguided members, who do not mean well for the community, expect such but cautiously accept such people in your communities without offending their ego"
Adeleke said
The ZCDC Chairman who is known for his firm advocacy for values-driven leadership and selfless service, said a roaster for hosting the CDA seminar in the different ACDCs would be finalized.
The Chairman further disclosed that the seminar for the CDA's leaders would focus more on revenue generation and project execution as well as conflict management and resolution, among other interesting topics.
While charging CDA officers, especially principal officers, to embrace purposeful learning by prioritizing attendance at the seminar as part of the renewed efforts to strengthen community leadership and accountability.
"ACDCs/CDAs do not need to solely wait for the government to achieve some community projects, there are legitimate ways to raise funds for projects execution" He said
The ACDC Chairman was elated by the prospect of hosting the next annual seminar at the ZCDC Secretariat, which is under construction and presently, at the roofing stage, and described it as a legacy project solely funded through contributions from the ACDCs and well-meaning individuals.
In his presentation titled: "Pre-Requisite for Leadership and Project Execution As A Catalyst for Community Development," Engr. Adeleke, harped on the expectations of community leaders, reasons people must join community organizations, pre-requisites for leadership, and summary of leadership demonstration.
Relying on his experience as a one-time CDA Chairman, he stated that any community leader desirous to leave lasting legacies must think out of the box and constantly adopt an innovative way to ensure success in his or her administration.
The Zonal Officer, Mr. Babatunde Odukoya, took the participants through a seminar on "Conflict Management in Community Development Organizations".
while an insurance professional, Mr. Akinlowo Moses Adewole, dwelt on insurance enlightenment/awareness and special provisions of the recently-signed Nigeria Insurance Industry Reform Act (NIIRA) 2025.
Also, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) representative in Obafemi Owode LGA, Mr. Kayode Okegbenro, sensitized participants on government policies, programmes and activities, Nigerian identity project and national symbols, national security awareness, flooding mitigation, national value-orientation in schools against "sign-out extreme practices," and the continuous voter registration (CVR).
The seminar had 200 participants in attendance, while the participants commended the ZCDC education committee and the entire Zonal leadership for the training, calling for the sustenance of the initiative as a key aspect of the ZCDC annual plan of action.
