OGUN HoS, PERM SECs EXTOL VIRTUES OF RETIRING PS AIKULOLA
The Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya alongside Permanent Secretaries in the State Civil Service have extolled the virtues of the Chairman, Body of Permanent Secretaries and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Olu. Ola. Aikulola who will retire statutorily from the State Civil Service on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.

Onasanya and the Chief Accounting Officers in different Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) gave the tributes during a special session organised to honour Dr. Aikulola by the Body of Permanent Secretaries in the State and to mark the official handover ceremony, held at the Bureau of Political Affairs and Administration, Conference Room, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

The Head of Service said Aikulola had been a man of wisdom, unwavering focus, an epitome of simplicity, a manager of men and resources adding that the civil service would continue to benefit from his wealth of experience and mentorship even as he retires.

Onasanya lauded Dr. Aikulola for his intelligence and integrity which proved beneficial during a challenging phase of his career.

“ He was in a challenging period which he shared with me and I stood by him based on his track record and outstanding qualities. At the end of the day he was exonerated. Dr. Aikulola I am proud of you. As civil servants we must be able to hold on to our own. If you believe in any civil servant, stand by him when he is facing a challenge,” the State Head of Service charged.

Commenting on Dr. Aikulola’s impact as Chairman, Body of Permanent Secretaries in the State within two months, Onasanya commended him for initiating a "Code of Conduct " for the Body as well as deepening the relationship among members.

In his tribute, the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Mr. Oyejola Oyeneye who recalled knowing the retiring PS when he (the celebrant) was a Zonal Education Officer noted that his dedication to duty and impact made General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, to support schools around Obafemi Owode Local Government Area with a huge sum deployed for the production of furniture and other necessary equipment under a developmental scheme tagged “linkages” which was initiated by the retiring PS. He added that his proactiveness, efficiency and consistency also earned him the National Order of Merit Award bestowed on him by the then President of Nigeria, Late Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR in 2017.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Oluwatosin Oloko who joined the Civil Service at the same time with the retiring Permanent Secretary said they were both committed and contented in spite of their meagre salary at the beginning of their careers stressing that they never exploited private school owners, a quality they continue to uphold.

In his contribution, the State Accountant General and Permanent Secretary, Treasury, Mr. Babatunde Aregbesola, who described Dr. Aikulola as his friend for almost 40 years, said the retiring PS had been an embodiment of integrity, loyalty, philanthropy and humility. He also said Stanley as the celebrant is fondly called, “is an encourager, a supporter of good causes and a lover of God, who consistently showed respect for constituted authority.”

Speaking, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Kayode Oladehinde described the Permanent Secretary as “a man of impeccable character” who has been passionate about developing his subordinates.

In his response, Dr. Aikulola lauded the Head of Service for his support during the challenging period saying his support made the difference.

The retiring Permanent Secretary who also commended members of the Body of Permanent Secretaries for their support during his short reign as Chairman assured that he was willing to provide necessary support if called upon after his retirement.

A key highlight of the event was the handover of leadership by the outgoing Chairman to the new Chairman, Body of Permanent Secretaries in Ogun State, the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Establishment, Mrs. Lydia Fajounbo.
