ITORI, AKUTE, MAGBORO, MAKOGI ROADS RECEIVE DOUBLE ASSURANCE OF COMPLETION

ITORI, AKUTE, MAGBORO, MAKOGI ROADS RECEIVE DOUBLE ASSURANCE OF COMPLETION
The Ogun State Government has once again reassured residents of Itori, Akute, Magboro, and Makogi of its commitment to completing all ongoing road projects in the areas within the record time.

The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, gave the assurance during an inspection tour of ongoing projects in the axis alongside journalists.
Akinsanya, who appealed to motorists and residents for more patience, explained that the prolonged rainy season had slowed down construction work across the state.

He noted that the 9.2km Akute - Lambe, Oke Aro - Agbado Road, the 8.17km Magboro–Makogi Road, and the 8.3km Itori Road would all be delivered as scheduled, adding that work would now progress faster with the return of dry weather.
“The State Government considers Ifo II a very strategic area for the people of Ogun State. That is why you can see massive construction work ongoing there.

“The Akute, Ajuwon, and Alagbole - Ajuwon roads have been completed, while work is ongoing on the Alagbole–Akute axis. From the Akute end of Alagbole, the government has also completed the Akute - Denro and Alhaji Kosoko roads,” he added.

According to Akinsanya, the first phase of the project from Sango to part of Ijoko, covering about 8.5km - and the Yakoyo to Alagbole stretch have been completed, while 17km remain under construction.
He recalled that the roads were in deplorable condition before the current administration intervened, saying that the last administration carried out excessive excavation works that worsened the situation.

“The previous administration left the roads in a terrible state. The excessive excavations made the Ijoko area especially vulnerable. We have had to raise the level by about 1- 2 meters to reach the sub-base, base, and asphalt layers,” Akinsanya said.

Empathizing with motorists, business owners, and residents, the Commissioner stated that Phase 1 of the ongoing 17km road will extend past Akute to the train station, about 500 meters from the bridge, while Phase 2, already evaluated, will run from Sango in the Ijoko area.

Project Managers from the various construction firms, Mr. Pierre Andery of Craneburg Construction Company and Jason Zhang of CCECC Nigeria explained that concrete pavement was used in certain waterlogged areas to ensure durability, especially due to the heavy truck traffic expected on the routes.

They assured that all assigned road sections would be completed by the end of next year, adding that over 50 percent of the work has already been done. They also guaranteed that, if properly maintained, the roads would last over 50 years.

Speaking on behalf of the community, Alhaji Waheed Kareem, commended the present administration for its commitment, noting that the completion of the projects would greatly enhance economic activities in the axis.

The road construction cut across Abeokuta North, Ado-Odo/Ota, Ifo, and Ewekoro Local Government Areas of the state.
