NUJ Poll: Ayinla, ‘Team RA’ Gain Chapels' Support as Ogun NUJ Election Count Down
As the Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) set to hold its crucial election on December 11, 2025, the race was intensified on Friday as Team RA,  Rebuild for Accountability took its campaign to the Federated Chapel, securing overwhelming endorsement from members.

The five-member team led by the seasoned journalist and former Correspondents’ Chapel Chairman, Prince, Razaq Ayinla, was warmly received by over 35 members of the chapel at the Ogun NUJ Hall, Abeokuta. 

Team RA, comprising five aspirants, is challenging the incumbent “Itesiwaju Otun Team” led by Comrade Akinwale Olarenwaju, who is seeking re-election after a three-year term. 

The aspirants presented themselves and appealed for support in their bid to lead the council into what they described as “a new era of accountability , transparency, professionalism and progressive unionism”.

Speaking during the visit, Ayinla, who currently serves as the News Editor of BusinessDay, vowed to reposition the Council for higher professional standards, improved welfare and build a stronger institutional credibility.

“We are here to seek your mandate and we assure you that Team RA represents competence, integrity and genuine service to the union”, he said.

The Members of the Federated Chapel expressed excitement and acknowledged the team’s outreach, according Premier World News reports.

The Chapel Chairman, Comrade Juwon Opayemi, commended the team for engaging members directly, Premier World News further reports.

The aspirants under Team RA include:
- Comrade Razaq Ayinla, for Council Chairman
- Comrade Modupe Salabiu, for Council Secretary
- Comrade Folake Ade-Adeniji, for Council Treasurer
- Comrade Kunle Ibikunle, for Council Financial Secretary
- Comrade Seun Adunlami, for Council Auditor

Also in attendance were the Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Mike Ogunsiji alongside editors and reporters from multiple online media platforms.

Friday's visit is the latest in a series of strategic consultations by Team RA, which had so far toured OGBC Chapel, OGTV Chapel, Correspondents Chapel, Premium Radio Chapel, Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation (FMINO) Chapel, NTA Chapel, SWAN to mention but a few.

Ayinla confirmed that visits to Ogun State Information Chapel, the largest Chapel and Ijebu East Chapel are scheduled in the coming days.

Premier World News further reports that as the election approaches, political activity within the Ogun NUJ intensifies, while observers say ‘Team RA’ has positioned itself as a formidable force capable of reshaping the union’s leadership dynamics.
