Ogun: Police arraign student 'leader' for impersonation, forgery, breach of public peace 


The Ogun State Police Command have arraigned an acclaimed student leader in the state, Olanose James, before the State Magistrate Court over a three-count charge of impersonation, conduct likely to breach public peace and forgery.

The defendant who was brought before the Magistrate Court sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta, on Wednesday, was said to have committed the three offences on December 22, 2025, in the Abeokuta Magisterial District. 

Reading the charges before the court presided over by O.T Odubanjo, the police prosecutor said that Olanose, 32 years, on December 22, 2025, in the Abeokuta Magisterial District, did impersonate to be a student of the Ogun State Cooperative College , Ijeja, Abeokuta, and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable Under Section 484 of the Criminal Code Vol. 1 Laws of Ogun State of Nigeria, 2006.

The charge reads further: "That you Olanose James, 'm' on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause breach of public peace and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable Under Section 429 of the Criminal Code Vol. 1 Laws of Ogun State of Nigeria, 2006.

"That you Olanose James 'm' on the same date and place in the aforementioned Magistrial District did forge the certificate of the Ogun State Cooperative College, Ijeja in Abeokuta as their student in which you did not attend the school at all and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable Under Section 465 of the Criminal Code Vol. 1 Laws of Ogun State of Nigeria".

The presiding magistrate, O.T Odubanjo, granted the defendant a bail of N1m in the like sum, a surety and licenced bondsmen.

She, however, ordered that the defendant be remanded in the Oba Custodial Centre pending the time he perfects his bail condition.

She adjourned the case to February 18, 2026 for hearing.
