Civil/Public Servants in the Ogun State Civil Service have been called upon to continue to reciprocate the gestures of government by discharging their duties with utmost sense of responsibility,. dedication and adhere strictly to the ethics of the Civil Service for maximum output.
The Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, who made the call when he monitored the year 2025 December edition of the Confirmation/Promotion Tests and Compulsory Examinations for officers in the professional, sub-professional and junior cadres, held at the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Ojere, Abeokuta, said the process is on to deepen efficiency in service delivery.
According to him, for Ogun State to remain a beacon of excellence in efficient service delivery, the workers must remain committed as the State is being measured based on various indices that includes excellent delivery.
He said the process of the examination aligns with the extant laws and forms part of the requirements for confirmation of the appointment of newly recruited officers in Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), as well as Boards and Parastatals, and not leaving out officers who had inter cadre transfers and upgrading.
"What we are doing basically is to test the knowledge of our officers on the Public Service Rules, Financial Regulations, and other reference books. This process is for the professional, sub-professional, junior.cadres and we also have the para-military- TRACE, Amotekun, with specialized questions for them.
"Ogun State is a beacon of excellence when it comes to efficient service delivery and this is the way to go. We must be able to ascertain the dexterity of our officers on our reference materials and I want to thank His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for granting the approval as the number of officers sitting for it is quite unprecedented with the atmosphere conducive", the HoS said.
Adding her voice, the Permanent Secretary in the Bureau of Establishments and Training, Office of the Head of Service, Mrs. Lydia Fajounbo said the examination which is conducted twice a year, June and December is basically to test the knowledge and acquaint the officers on the statutory books and are expected to sit for it within 2 years of entering the Service.
She said a total of 1,750 candidates are sitting for the examination and commended them for comporting themselves peacefully and orderly during the process.
In separate interviews, Scientist Sunday Opeyemi from the Hospitals Management Board (HMB), Ifeoluwa Soluade from the Ogun State Television (OGTV), and Amdalat Oladimeji, a statistician from the Bureau of Statistics, lauded the government for putting up the examinations as it has exposed them to the rudiments of their professions and the Civil Service at large.
They appreciated the government for upgrading from the analogue form to the computer based format, as it made the conduct of the exams orderly and seamless and added that the process would impact positively on their work schedules when they return to their various offices after the examinations.
