Lagos Council Chair Inaugurates 2026 Procurement Statutory Committee, Assures Accountability
In a move to strengthen transparency, accountability, and efficient management of public resources, the Executive Chairman, Epe Local Government, Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun, has inaugurated Year 2026 Procurement Statutory Committee.

While inaugurating the committee at the council secretariat, Ita-Marun, Epe, Lagos state, the Chairperson stressed that accountability remains her watchdog, noting that members of the committee were persons of integrity with high quality personalities.

Charging the committee members,  the Chairman said that the occasion marked another significant step in the administration’s ongoing efforts to institutionalise good governance and ensure strict adherence to due process in the council area of Lagos state.

Princess Animashaun emphasised that the establishment of the Procurement Statutory Committee aligns with her administration’s core objectives of promoting accountability, prudence and financial management,  noting that public funds must be handled with the highest level of responsibility, transparency, and in accordance with laid-down procurement laws.

She urged members of the committee to discharge their duties with integrity, professionalism, and fairness, stressing that their role was critical in safeguarding public trust and ensuring that government projects deliver value for money.

"The Procurement Statutory Committee is expected to oversee and regulate all procurement processes within the local government, ensuring compliance with existing regulations, preventing financial mismanagement, and promoting competitive and transparent bidding processes.

With this initiative, Epe Local Government aimed to enhance the execution of developmental projects, improve infrastructural delivery, and ensure that public resources are utilised judiciously for the benefit of the people." Princess Animashaun said.

The Chairman said the move has been widely seen as a proactive step toward deepening institutional accountability and fostering public confidence in the local government administration.

She noted that the committee was not just a routine administrative exercise, but a strategic effort aimed at entrenching transparency, strengthening institutions, and delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of the council area.
