Ogun Govt Approves 2025, 2026 Civil Service Promotion Exercises
The Ogun State Government has approved the commencement of the 2025 and 2026 combined promotion exercises for civil servants across the state.

The approval, granted by the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, was contained in a circular signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Civil Service Commission, Mr Jola Oyeneye.

According to the circular, all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) are required to compile and submit the names of all eligible officers for the combined promotion exercise.

Oyeneye directed the MDAs to strictly adhere to the provisions of the Ogun State Public Service Rules, particularly Rule 02801, sub-paragraphs (b), (c) and (d), in preparing the lists.

He charged Accounting Officers to ensure that all qualified officers are captured, while excluding officers whose disciplinary proceedings have been concluded with sanctions.

For effective financial planning, the Permanent Secretary directed that the submissions should include the corresponding financial implications. He added that the returns must be endorsed by the Permanent Secretary or Head of the respective Extra-Ministerial Agency, prepared using the approved Excel proforma and forwarded through the appropriate parent agencies.

On preparations for the forthcoming promotion oral interviews, Oyeneye stated that all eligible officers would be required to obtain a copy of the official publication, Managing a Bureaucracy Vol. 9.

He advised MDAs to collate the names of participating officers, obtain bank tellers from Block A, Room 246 of the Civil Service Commission, and coordinate bulk payments on behalf of their personnel to facilitate the process and minimise inconvenience.

He further stated that officers would be required to present copies of their last Promotion Gazette, alongside the prescribed publication, for verification at the oral interview venues.

The Permanent Secretary charged Accounting Officers and Directors of Administration and Supplies to take personal responsibility for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the submissions from their respective establishments.

According to the circular, the lists may be submitted in both hard and soft copies through flash drives, by email to dpd.civilservice@ogunstate.gov.ng, or via WhatsApp on 09120725812.

Oyeneye urged all MDAs to give the circular wide publicity and ensure strict compliance with the directives.

He stated that all completed returns must reach the Ogun State Civil Service Commission on or before Friday, October 2, 2026.
