Ogun Attorney-General Honoured for Outstanding Service
The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Ogun State, Mr. Oluwasina Ogungbade, has been honoured with an Award of Outstanding Service by Quick Legal Magazine in recognition of his contributions to the administration of justice and the development of the legal profession in the state.
The award was presented to Ogungbade at an event held at the Ministry of Justice Conference Hall, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, where legal practitioners, stakeholders and other distinguished guests gathered to celebrate his contributions to the state’s justice sector.
Speaking on the organisation behind the award, the Editor-in-Chief of Legal Lead Publication Limited, publishers of Quick Legal Magazine, and former Vice-Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ijebu-Ode Branch, Mr. Moruff Balogun, said the magazine was established as an innovative platform to showcase the achievements of lawyers who had made significant contributions to the legal profession.
Balogun explained that the publication also featured columns providing legal advice, while documenting the contributions of distinguished personalities who had contributed and continued to contribute to the development of the legal profession.
He said the award to the Attorney-General was a reflection of Ogungbade’s contributions to the legal profession and his efforts to address some of the legal challenges confronting residents of Ogun State.
Balogun particularly commended the Attorney-General for his intervention in the fight against land grabbing in the state, describing the menace as an issue that required sustained legal and institutional action.
According to him, Ogungbade has demonstrated commitment to deploying the law and the machinery of government to tackle cases of unlawful acquisition of land and protect the rights of legitimate property owners.
“We believe that recognition should be given to individuals who are contributing to the development of the justice system and the protection of people through the effective application of the law,” he said.
He added that the award was also intended to encourage the Attorney-General and other public officers in the justice sector to sustain their efforts towards improving access to justice and upholding the rule of law.
Balogun urged stakeholders in the legal profession to continue supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening the justice system and protecting the rights of citizens.
Responding, Ogungbade expressed appreciation to Quick Legal Magazine, Legal Lead Publication Limited and members of the legal profession for the recognition.
The Attorney-General described the award as an encouragement to continue serving the people of Ogun State with dedication, professionalism and commitment to justice.
He said the recognition was not solely a personal achievement but also a reflection of the collective efforts of officials and stakeholders working within the state’s justice system.
According to him, effective administration of justice requires the cooperation of government institutions, legal practitioners, security agencies, traditional institutions and members of the public.
“I am deeply honoured to receive this award. I appreciate the organisers for finding me worthy of this recognition. I regard this award as a call to greater responsibility. It will further encourage me and my colleagues to remain committed to the principles of justice, fairness and the rule of law in the discharge of our responsibilities,” he said.
Ogungbade also acknowledged the seriousness of land-related disputes and the challenges posed by land grabbing, stressing the need to strengthen legal and institutional mechanisms for protecting lawful property ownership.
He assured residents that the Ministry of Justice would continue to collaborate with relevant institutions and stakeholders to address legal challenges affecting the people of the state.
The Attorney-General subsequently dedicated the award to staff of the Ministry of Justice and other stakeholders whose contributions, he said, had continued to support the administration of justice in Ogun State.
He also appreciated the Ogun State Government for providing an enabling environment for the justice sector to discharge its responsibilities effectively.
The event ended with renewed calls for greater collaboration among legal practitioners, government institutions and other stakeholders towards strengthening the rule of law and improving justice delivery in Ogun State.
