Ogun to Distribute Farm Inputs, Machinery at 2026 World Food Day
The Ogun State Government has announced plans to distribute agricultural inputs and machinery to farmers as part of activities marking the 2026 World Food Day celebration scheduled for Friday, October 16, at the Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta.

The celebration, with the theme, “Innovate Today. Nourish Tomorrow,” is expected to bring together farmers, agribusiness operators, development partners and other stakeholders to promote food security, agricultural innovation and sustainable food production.

According to the state government, the distribution of farm inputs and machinery is aimed at supporting farmers, improving productivity and increasing agricultural output across the state.

Smartphones will also be distributed to beneficiaries of the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) programme to improve their access to essential agricultural information and digital services.

Another major highlight of the event will be an agricultural exhibition showcasing innovations, products and opportunities across the agricultural value chain.

The celebration is expected to provide a platform for stakeholders to strengthen collaboration, encourage investment in agriculture and explore innovative approaches to sustainable food production.

The World Food Day celebration underscores the commitment of the Ogun State Government, under the leadership of Governor Dapo Abiodun, to developing a productive, resilient and commercially viable agricultural sector.

The initiative is also aimed at strengthening food security, creating economic opportunities and improving farmers’ livelihoods through increased agricultural productivity and the adoption of modern farming practices.

The Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Bolu Owotomo, signed the press release announcing the event.
